This is an all natural wood stand for Kindle Fire, Kindle Paperwhite, iPod, phone or other small electronic device. It has a natural, handsome look with a dark, knotty swirl in the grain on the front.
I cut this stand from a plank of hickory, beveling the four sides on the top edge and sanding it up to 1000 grit by hand. I gave it a light coat of Japanese tung oil on the top and sides, leaving the bottom untreated.
I made this stand specifically for the Kindle Fire, but it can accommodate a number of similar devices. I cut the electronic device slot at 25 degrees, sure to display your Kindle or iPod or other device at just the right angle. The slot measures 1/2 inch (12 cm) wide. Be sure to measure the width of your device before ordering!
The slot is 5/16 inch deep in the front where the lip holds your device in place. At that depth it covers none of the Kindle Fire screen. The slot is 1/2 inch deep in the back, giving plenty of support to your device.
Width: 4 inches (10.3 cm)
Height: 3/4 inch (2 cm)
Depth: 3 inches (7.5 cm)
Slot: 1/2 wide by 1/2 inch deep at 25 degree angle
Materials: Hickory, Japanese tung oil
This stand is designed for small and medium-sized devices. It’s not designed for electronic devices taller than about 9 inches, which would put its center of gravity past the rear of the stand and allow the device to tip over.
